Citing a desire to send written compliments and feedback to library staff, Ames resident Tyler Boyd tried for 10 minutes to find the address of Parks Library on Tuesday, only to be stymied at every turn.
“I see something about the corner of Osborn and another road, but what I’m looking for is the actual address of the library. You know, with a street number and everything,” Boyd said.
“I really want to let the folks working at the library know how helpful they’ve been to me,” Boyd continued. “I appreciate the superior user experience and dynamic collection, and the way they empower me through teaching information literacy and research skills. I just can’t find the darn address!”
When asked why he insisted on sending a paper letter in lieu of an email or in-person visit, Boyd mumbled something about engaging stakeholders in formal and informal ways of providing feedback.
"I guess I could ask at the Research Help Desk, but it seems like something I should be able to find myself," Boyd said.
Offers to demonstrate finding the address on the library’s website were unreturned.
Ultimately, Boyd attempted to send the letter, but it was labeled "Undeliverable" as he forgot to affix postage or provide a return address.
